The kids also enjoyed the little lighthouse to play in, the viewing window in the fish pond, the bug amphitheater just right for singing and performing and running and climbing all over.
Today we went to the Dinosaur museum. Another great success and good rainy day activity. Ginny liked playing in the sand and water pool. Somehow she managed to get up and stand in the pool, which I still can't quite figure out how she did it. But here she is playing in the water, happily making messes.

Her other favorite part was the "quarry"- giant sandboxes where the kids could pretend to be archeologist and unearth dinosaur bones that were hidden in the sand. Ginny really liked the "paintbrush" part, as she called it. ( Sorry, no picture of her in there). But here is a picture of the giant shark who all the kids called "Bruce" after "Finding Nemo".
I am looking forward to a fun summer exploring all the fun things to do in our area. With gas prices being so high, we're just going to get to know Utah this summer (and a bit of Idaho for a family reunion). For those of you who live in Utah or Salt Lake Valley, what are some of your favorite kid-friendly places to go? I'd like to discover more.

So Fun!! I want to try that museum at Thanksgiving Point. I think my boys would LOVE the bear cave. Thanks for the heads up!
There's the Bean Museum at BYU. It's Free! And then you have to go to the Creamery for an ice cream afterwards. Going up the canyon for picnics or weenie roasts is also very fun. Camp out in a tent in your backyard! Or Grandma's backyard...You can also go to the fish farm pond down here in Payson. You're guaranteed a fish if you toss your hook in the water. You just pay for the fish you catch (and they clean and fillet it for you too). There's the Red Barn in Santaquin that's supposed to have wonderful ice cream (I've never been, but I think we'll go). And there's that Young Living farm place in Mona, I think it is. Tracy Aviary in SLC, where I haven't been since I was a kid. Camp Floyd is supposed to be pretty cool too. I think they're doing stuff on Memorial Day weekend. How's that for a starter list?
when i was younger, i LOVED to visit the 'kid's museum' in salt lake. i remember it being the coolest place EVER - and we went a couple of times. that's all i know about it, though... don't know where in salt lake it is or if that's even what it's really called...
Good ideas, Anna. Thanks. Doesn't the Young Living Farm have "lavendar days" in June? I definetely want to go!!! I love lavendar. And the Bean museum plus ice cream afterwards is one of our family favorites, too.
I was just so disgusted with Provo when I found out from a friend today that the three places to go when it's bad weather are: Arctic Circle (for little kids), then McDonald's, then Carl's Jr. I'm glad they have fun playgrounds, but there's got to be more things to do than that. I've always wondered why Provo, who has such a large population of young families, is not more family oriented.
Your boys would definetely love the bear cave, Karli. Ginny can take them on a guided tour when you want. We just need to go with someone who has a Thanksgiving POint membership, because then it's half off. I'm thinking of getting one, so I'll let you know and we can go together.
Does Thanksgiving Point still have the petting zoo? If you go at the right time, I think it was 5 pm, and there are baby calves, you can watch them milk the mother cow and you and Ginny can help them feed the calves from bottles...pretty cool.
